Help
How to make a mold, print the cases, pour the plaster and cast, and how your account works.
Getting started
- Getting help: Ask the help chat on any page, read the help center, or write to a person: what each does, and what to send so we can help quickly.
- Making a slip-cast mold: From a 3D model to a plaster mold you can print and pour: bring the model, set its fired size, pick the pieces, generate, and get the print files.
Making molds
- Press molds and hump molds: Pressing soft clay into a plaster mold, or draping a slab over a plaster hump: the clay, the steps, and what to watch for.
- Silicone molds: A printed box you fill with silicone: which silicone, how to pour it, how the mold opens, and casting resin, plaster, wax or soap in it.
Printing the cases
- Printing the cases: How the print files are laid out for your printer, what to print them in, and how the clamps, edge frames and printed natches go together.
Plaster and casting
- Draining and demolding a slip cast: How long to leave the slip in, how to drain the mold, and when the cast is ready to come out.
- Pouring the plaster mold: Soap the printed cases, close them, mix the plaster by weight, pour it, and let the mold dry before its first cast.
- Reading the pour sheet: What the pour sheet tells you: the plaster and water for each piece, the slip to have ready, what you need, and the steps with their times.
- When a cast goes wrong: Pinholes, a cast that sticks or tears, a wall too thin or too thick, plaster that grabs the case or leaks: the likely cause and what to do.
Your account and plan
- Deleting your pieces, your data and your account: How to delete a piece, how long pieces are kept, how to download everything we keep about you, and how to delete your account for good.
- Plans and downloads: What you can do without an account, what an account adds, how downloads are counted each week, and how long your pieces are kept.
- Signing in, and getting back in: Making an account, signing in with a password, a mailed link or Google and Facebook, and what to do when you are locked out.
