Signing in, and getting back in

Making an account, signing in with a password, a mailed link or Google and Facebook, and what to do when you are locked out.

Make an account

Press Sign in at the top of any page. Make an account with your address and a password of at least 10 characters, or with Google or Facebook where they are offered. The pieces you made as a guest in that browser become the account's.

We send a welcome mail with a link that confirms your address, so that a forgotten password can always be reset. If it did not come, press Send me the link on your account page, under Settings.

Ways to sign in

A link we mail always shows whose account it opens and asks for one click before it does anything.

Forgot your password

Press Forgot your password? on the sign-in form for a reset link. It lets you set a new password once, within the time the mail says. Setting a new password signs out every other browser.

Whether or not an address has an account, the answer to asking for a link is the same: we never say which addresses have one.

Too many tries

After too many tries in a row, signing in waits for a few minutes. That keeps others from guessing your password. Wait, then try again, or ask for a link by mail.

Signing out

Sign out in the account menu signs out this browser. When you are signed in on more than one, Sign out the others on your account page, under Settings, signs out every other browser; changing your password does the same.
